Silent sorrow of Jean-Philippe Rieu

In the Privé magazine of February 2012, an article appeared, which looked like an interview with André's younger brother Jean-Philippe named: "The silent sorrow of André Rieu", but it meant to be: "The silent sorrow of Jean-Philippe Rieu".  We contacted Mr. J-P. Rieu. He mailed us that he had never given an interview to Privé. Privé took the material from other sources but he confirmed that the contents are correct. He gave us permission to translate and post the article on our website. Click on the photo to the left to read the article.

We like to present to you André's "Funny Faces" Photo show. One day in Maastricht he was in a cheerful and naughty mood, fooling around with fans and their cameras. He was on the steps of the Theater on the Vrijthof, prior to the start of a concert. We took a lot of photos and many fans from all around the world sent us their special photos. This hilarious slide show will give you a good laugh. Click on the photo to the right. Because the "Photo shows" Page contained too many videos, we split them up into three pages. Enjoy!

Dear André. To cheer you up we are sending you an imaginary bouquet of flowers consisting of André Rieu- and Johann Strauss tulips. Late April they will be in full bloom and hopefully you will be fully recovered by then. Get well soon. You are in our thoughts. Ruud and Ineke.

We were served an exclusive high tea with lots of delicious snacks and sweets.

Mirusia sang several songs which we had never heard before and she told us something about her career beginning at the age of seventeen. We'd like to share our video with you, to which we have added English subtitles.  Click on the picture above to see this video.

Inge Cossette commented in Harmony Parlor's Guestbook:

Thank you Ineke for the Video in your website. It was taken Nov. 17, 2OO4 in my home and PBS used it in their Pledge drive in 2OO5 and 2OO6 a lot. I remember how I felt like a grilled tomato under those hot lights. But it is a nice souvenir. Inge.

André Magazine 2011

Entia, from South Africa, offered to do some translations for us. Her native languages are English and Afrikaans. Afrikaans is the third most spoken mother tongue in SA. It is a derivative of Dutch and originated in the 17th century after Dutch settlers colonized SA. That's why Entia can understand Dutch and we can understand Afrikaans! Click here to read her first translations from the AR Magazine. Entia makes John’s and our job a little lighter! Thank you Entia!
