Horses’ tranquillizer.
André Rieu’s music keeps the horses calm on New Year’s Eve. A Dutch horse riding school in Almere has been using this tranquillizer for years.
The loud bangs of fireworks startle the horses and by playing loud classical André music in the stables, the horses keep quiet.

New Year’s Concert in
Cologne, Germany.
It is a wonderful experience to spend New Year’s Eve with fan friends from different countries in a hotel in Cologne and watch the fireworks along the banks of the river Rhine. On New Year’s Day we attended the first concert of 2014 and there is no better way to start a new year! Click on the picture to watch a video of traditional songs from Cologne.

This Dutch TV program shows a happy and proud André Rieu, looking back at a historic day for the Netherlands: April 30th 2013: The abdication of Queen Beatrix, the inauguration of King Willem- Alexander and André leading the King’s Ball at the Museum Square in Amsterdam. André Rieu visits a 100-years old Maastricht fan in the convent “Onder de Bogen” (Under the Arches) where she and her twin sister have lived since they entered the congregation at the age of 18. He invited her to dance with him on the Vrijthof Square and she eagerly accepted!

East European Tour.
During this tour André did not need to look far to find translators!
Agnes Fizzano-Walter translated his lyrics into Polish, Martine Wijers into the Czech language, Bela Mavrak into Hungarian and Giedre Mundinaite into Lithuanian.

André Rieu Guide.
For the first time ever an André Rieu Guide will appear this summer which will be produced by Chapeau Magazine in cooperation with André Rieu Productions.
It will be a City Guide in English, outlining to the thousands of foreign visitors coming to the Vrijthof concerts, what Maastricht and its surroundings have to offer. In this pocket-sized guide André Rieu will give his own tips with fun places and addresses to visit throughout the city. They will be supplemented by tips from the editors of Chapeau. In addition, attention is paid to the history of the city, tourist information etc.
The guide will be released on June 30th 2014.

We wrote a small “history”about the roaming sculpture and where it has been since since 2009. We even feared a beheading of the sculpture in 2013….

Malaysian Airlines Flight MH017 crashed.
On 17 July 2014 Malaysian Airlines Flight
MH 17 was shot down above Ukraine, with approximately 300 people on board, mainly Australians and Dutch people. The André Rieu fans were deeply shocked when they heard that Susan and Howard Horder were among the victims. They had attended the concerts in Maastricht, the fan dinner and the fan picnic and were on their way home to Australia. Click on the picture for a tribute.
