May 2015: Interview by TV Limburg. Life as a musician with André Rieu. Frank Steijns plays the violin for 21 years at the Johann Strauss Orchestra and is widely seen as André’s right hand. The interview is spoken in Limburg dialect. For sure the translation was a challenge to Ineke and John!
The YouTube video below about Frank Steijns appeared at André’s advent calendar, of December 2014 and 2015. A REAL TREAT!!
On December 21st 2014, Frank Steijns interrupted the Great Britain tour to perform a Christmas concert in Maastricht, together with music school KUMULUS. This is the way he transports his mobile carillon to the venue.
Thank you Christ van Schijndel for sending us the photo of this concert.
In July 2011 Frank Steijns played the 60 ton carillon at Bok Tower Gardens, Lake Wales, Florida, USA. The Gardens were founded by Mr. and Mrs. Bok, Dutch immigrants from Den Helder, the Netherlands. The Gardens are a historic landmark in Central Florida, with a 205-foot (62 meter) tall Singing Tower, with 60 carillon bells. The Gardens were created as a bird sanctuary. Mr. Edward W. Bok was an editor of a popular woman’s magazine. He died in 1930 and was interred at the base of the tower. We thank Jennifer Dawson, who visited the Bok Gardens in 2015 and found the video on YouTube.
