In September 2017 Mexico was hit by four consecutive earthquakes, south of Mexico City.
André performed in Monterrey and Guadalajara, but had to reschedule the Mexico City concerts.
Prior to one of André’s concerts in Guadalajara he announced his intention to donate the proceeds of his
newest CD to the victims of the Mexican earthquakes.
From André’s website: “From Monterrey we went by plane to Mexico’s second largest city: Guadalajara.
It’s always a very overwhelming sight to enter the enormous Auditorio TELMEX. We played two sold out
concerts here for over 15.000 people. Tomorrow we fly to Mexico City, where we will play five concerts in a
row”.

André Rieu, violinist, orchestra leader and conductor, appeared on Saturday September 23rd 2017
in Guadalajara at a sold-out Telmex Auditorium. From the very beginning the audience was full of
enthusiasm to enjoy the show. The musician started the performance by directing a few words to the
Mexican audience about the recent tragedy regarding the four consecutive earthquakes. He announced
that soon he will launch a new album, whose profits will be destined to the victims of the Mexican
earthquakes. The concert was full of the good humor that characterizes André Rieu’s shows and he started
to sing along with the well-known Cielito Lindo song. He then promised that the live performance of the
audience of this concert would be part of the new album. The Johann Strauss Orchestra which
accompanies the musician, also participated in the antics of humor through its acting skills which
brightened up the spectacle. Other highlights were the performances of the Platin Tenors and the three
sopranos. Mr. Atala Sarmiento acted as translator for André Rieu’s address to the audience. After two hours
of concert the artists said goodbye and left the stage accompanied by an ovation from the audience.
