Le André Rieu becomes a grandfather again: "I'm going to get another one" André Rieu is becoming a grandfather again. The world-famous violinist reveals the happy news during an interview for Australian television. His son Marc is expecting another child, so André will soon have no less than six grandchildren. Proud of his family André not only enjoys enormous fame in the Netherlands. Also on the other side of the world, the musician has a big crowd of fans. For an Australian television production [Today of Australia], he gave a behind-the- scenes look at his studios in Maastricht and talked extensively about his work. Despite his long career and worldwide success, André still enjoys performing. "I enjoy being on the stage there every night and making people happy," he says. "It's not a cliché, that's really true." But when the interviewer [Richard Wilkins] asks him what he is most proud of in his life, it turns out not to be the sold-out concerts or his musical successes. "Good question. First of all: my wife, my children and my grandchildren," Andre replies. And then suddenly he drops special news: "I'm getting another one." Sixth grandchild on the way The Australian interviewer has to check what André means and asks for a joke whether the 76-year-old musician himself will have another child. André can laugh about it and makes it clear that it is of course a new grandchild. In doing so, he reveals news that so far has not been known. Son Marc Rieu expects family expansion again.
